FUEL CAPS

Fuel caps are small but crucial and are an integral part of the onboard diagnostics system and emissions control system.

They prevent fuel vapor leakage from the filler neck, which is a major source of hydrocarbon emissions, and play a major safety role in preventing the flow of fuel from the tank filler neck when a car is in an accident, including rollovers.

Studies demonstrate that a defective or missing fuel cap can allow up to 114 liters (30 gallons) of fuel to evaporate into the atmosphere every year. For all these reasons, using a proven, high-quality fuel cap is vital to safety, fuel economy and the environment.

MotoRad fuel caps are designed and manufactured to prevent such fuel loss. All of MotoRad’s fuel caps meet all Federal (MVSS301) and I/M 240 requirements.

Standard Fuel Caps

MotoRad standard fuel caps pass all state and federal emissions requirements. The caps are specifically designed with pressure and vacuum relief valves to prevent the evaporation of fuel.

Locking Fuel Caps

MotoRad locking fuel caps can function as locking or non-locking fuel caps. When the key is turned to the left and removed, the cap is unlocked and no longer spins freely. The cap meets all emission specifications in both the locked and unlocked position.

Proven High Safety and Ease of Use

MotoRad offers more than 60 different types of fuel caps and more than 50 types of locking fuel caps, all designed and manufactured to minimize fuel vapor loss while maximizing safety and ease of use

Non-Locking and Locking Fuel Caps

MotoRad fuel caps are designed and manufactured to prevent fuel loss primarily through evaporation. Additionally, MotoRad non-locking and locking caps are designed for easy opening and closing by all drivers, including people with smaller hands. Locking fuel caps are recommended to prevent fuel theft and vandalism.
All MotoRad fuel caps include venting according to industry standards, an integrated ratchet system for positive closure and elimination of over torque of the cap and an optional locking mechanism. All MotoRad fuel caps meet or exceed standard auto industry requirements. They meet all emission control standards including IM240 and AIR CARE inspection, and have been independently tested for emission control effectiveness. Cap integrity tests simulating a 90 kph (56 mph) collision, tip test and vent test prove their ability to remain sealed after a side collision.
